Multidisciplinary Critical Care Lecture Series is held on Wednesday evenings from 5-6pm.  Faculty from multiple critical care departments around the hospital lecture on various and diverse topics in critical care medicine.

Fellowship Critical Care Lecture Series is held on Thursdays from 1-2pm.  Fellows present a critical care topic of their interest. The subject matter is diverse, ranging from basic “bread and butter” critical care topics to basic pathophysiology of disease to cutting edge management of critical care medicine conditions.

UBQI (Quality Improvement) Conference is held on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 12:30-2pm. This multidisciplinary conference is attended by the faculty, fellows, nursing leadership, nutrition support, pharmacy and selected representatives from the hospital (blood bank, radiology IT, etc.). QI includes a monthly review of ICU statistics (admissions, discharges, infection rates, etc.), SICU expiration reviews from the prior month, and a wide variety of SICU issues, which vary from month to month.

SICU Morbidity and Mortality is held on the second Thursday of each month from 2-3pm.  Fellows will present selected cases, usually from the prior month, and they will be discussed with faculty and fellows.

SICU Journal Club is held the third Thursday of each month from 2-3pm.  Two fellows will present journal articles of their choice, and it will be discussed with faculty and fellows.

Board Review is held the first Thursday of each month from 1-1:30pm.

SICU Housestaff lectures are held Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1-2pm each week.  Fellows from each service present a short 15-20minute lecture to housestaff and students.

Chest Conference is held the last Thursday of each month in Mallinckrodt Lecture Hall. This conference is run by the Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine department and is a discussion/review of various lung pathologies.

Outcomes Subcommittee is held the first Thursday of each month from 1:30-3pm. In addition to the monthly QI meeting, the SICU has a separate outcomes committee that is dedicated to specific areas of clinical concern as well as a review of all incident reports received for the previous month. Many research studies are initiated out of Outcomes Subcommittee. Fellows have historically played a major role in translating new studies/ideas from outcomes subcommittee to the bedside.
